Ki Hadjar Dewantara's Among System Analysis in a Primary School Classroom Management: A Case Study
Good classroom management is the most important part of learning activities carried out by a teacher. However, classroom management problems in primary schools still often occur such as class indiscipline, late for class, do not collect assignments given by the teacher, tease each other, fight, steal, cheat in the examination, low learning outcomes, bullying and another student violation. To overcome classroom management problems, teacher can implement the Ki Hadjar Dewantara`s among system. In among system, teachers require to perform many roles including as educators, motivators, counselors, facilitators and classroom managers. This study aims to determine and analyze the among system application in classroom management of SD Negeri Timuran Yogyakarta. This research used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection used direct observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data collection instruments were observation and interview guidelines form. Data analysis steps were data presentation, data reduction, and verification, while the validity of the data was tested using increasing perseverance and triangulation. The results showed that the application of the among system in classroom management of SD Negeri Timuran Yogyakarta was going well. The system of asih, asah dan asuh has been implemented through a pluralistic approach in which there are 5 kinds of approaches, namely instructional approach, authoritarian approach, democratic approach, socio-emotional approach and group process approach. The implementation of the among systems in classroom management considered to several things, i.e. the students development, subject matter, values or attitudes to be formed in students, school facilities, and school environment condition.
