Abstrak

Analysis of errors in solving math problems in students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Kretek. The purposes of this study are (1) To determine the percentage of the students misconceptions in solving of the operation of the count on algebraic form. (2) To determine the presentage  of students commited procedural errors in solving of the operation of the count algebraic form. (3) To determine the percentage error calculation of students in solving problems of the operation of the count on algebraic form. (4) To determine the type of fault those mostly do by the students in solving the problem of the operation of the count on algebraic form. The research was conducted in SMP Negeri 1 Kretek, with subjects graders VIIIB class totaling 28 students. The objects of this research are the students mistakes in solving math problems on the subject of the operation of the count on algebraic form. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. This type  of the research is descriptive qualitative research. The data collection tehniques are used tehnique of tests, interviews and documentation. The instruments of the research are a researcher, a test sheet, the sheet guide the interview. The validity of the items obtained through product moment of correlation. Through validity test that has been done showed 6 items description, item number 6 is declared invalid. Reliability of the test is obtained by using the formula Alpha. The results of r11 are 0,374 and otherwise reliable. Data analysis technique is done by reviewing all available data, through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion/verification.The results of descriptive research has pointed VIIIB grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Kretek do misconception of 14,10% are included in the category of very low, amounting to 32,74% of procedural errors included in the low category, and calculation errors by 31,50% included in the low category. While the types of mistakes that mostly students do in VIIIB grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Kretek in solving problems on the subject of the operation of the count on algebraic was a procedural error, amounting to 32,74%. Based of the data, it is suggested to the teacher to correct mistakes made by students to class VIII student achievement SMP Negeri 1 Kretek may increase.
