Abstrak

This study aims to find out the application of PISA-based PMRI approach in improving students 'mathematics literacy skills of eighth-graders, the quality of PISA-based PMRI approach in improving students' mathematical literacy skills of eighth-graders, and mathematical literacy ability of eighth-graders using PISA-based PMRI approach. This research method uses concurrent embedded mix method with quantitative method as primary method and qualitative method as secondary method. The population in this study is the eighth-graders from SMP BOPKRI 3 Yogyakarta badge 2017/2018. The sample was taken using cluster random sampling with normal and homogenous population. Subjects for qualitative data were selected based on purposive sampling technique. Based on the cluster random sampling technique in this study, 30 students were selected from class VIII B as an experimental class using PISA-based PMRI approach model and 30 students from class VIII A as control class that will be given conventional learning. The improvement of the ability of mathematical literacy is marked by the accomplishment of classical completeness, the proportion of students' mathematical literacy, and the difference in early-last mathematical literacy on PMRI learning is better than conventional learning. The results showed that the valid learning, the quality of the learning meet the good category, and increased the ability of mathematics students of the eighth-graders from SMP BOPKRI 3 Yogyakarta.
