Abstrak

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of cooperative learning model type Numbered Head Together (NHT) to improve mathematics learning achievement  of students of class VIII MTs Muhammadiyah Sodo. This type of research is quasi-experimental research. The population in this research is class VIII MTs Muhammadiyah Sodo, by using Cluster Random Sampling technique. Technique of data collecting is done by documentation technique to get data of student's early ability and test technique to get the data of student's mathematics learning achievement. The results showed that the tendency of students' learning achievement in the experimental class included in the high category that is 74,50, whereas the tendency of student achievement score of mathematics class of control class included in medium category that is 49,52. Result of hypothesis test by using t correlation test obtained t_hitung = 1,51 <t_tabel = 1,681. So there is no significant mean difference between the classes using the Numbered Head Together (NHT) cooperative learning model with the conventional class, in other words the Numbered Head Together (NHT) cooperative learning model is no more effective than the conventional learning to increase Achievement of mathematics learning of Grade VIII students of MTs Muhammadiyah Sodo.
