Analisis Kemampuan Berpikir Tinggi Melalui Pertanyaan Esai Pada Buku Pathway to English Until SMA/MA Kelas XI Edisi Revisi 2017
Abstract
Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan bukti empiris dari distribusi kemampuan berpikir tinggi berdasarkan taksonomi Anderson pada pertanyaan esai di buku teks Pathway to English untuk SMA/MA kelas 11. Dalam penelitan ini, penulis menggunakan metode content analysis karena penulis mengidentifikasi spesifik karakter dari material di dalam buku tersebut, khususnya pertanyaan esai. Di dalam pengumpulan data, data yang dikumpulkan adalah data kualitatif karena data tersebut berbentuk kata – kata yaitu pertanyaan esai. Penulis menggunakan buku teks Pathway to English sebagai sumber data serta menggunakan checklist table dalam mengumpulkan dan menganalisa data. Setelah melakukan analisa data, penulis menemukan bahwa kemampuan berpikir tinggi memperoleh 68 dari jumlah 269 pertanyaan esai (25,2%) sementara kemampuan berpikir rendah memperoleh 201 dari 269 pertanyaan esai (74,7%). Hal ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa distribusi dari kemampuan berpikir tinggi lebih rendah dari kemampuan berpikir rendah. Sebagai focus dari penelitian ini, dapat dilihat bahwa kemampuan menganalisa memperoleh distirbusi yang tinggi dengan memperoleh 52 pertanyaan esai (19,33%) sementara kemampuan evaluasi 12 pertanyaan esai (4,47%) dan kemampuan menciptakan memperoleh 4 pertanyaan esai (1,49%). Hasilnya menunjukan bahwa distribusi kemampuan berpikir tinggi di dalam buku tersebut hanya memberi perhatian lebih pada kemampuan menganalisa yang memperoleh jumlah yang tinggi dibanding yang lain.

Abstract: Abstract: This study’s objective is to get empirical evidence of the distribution of higher order thinking skill based on Anderson’s Taxonomy in essay questions in Pathway to English textbook for 11th grade of senior high school. In this study, the writer uses content analysis method because the writer identifies specified characteristics of the material in the textbook especially essay questions. In collecting data, data collected are qualitative data because data are in form of words which are essay questions. The writer uses Pathway to English textbook as data source and checklist table to collect and analyze data. After analyzing data, the writer finds that higher order thinking skill obtains 68 of 269 essay questions (25,2%) while lower order thinking skill obtains 201 of 269 essay questions (74,7%). It can be concluded that the distribution of the higher order thinking skill is lower than the lower order thinking skill. As the focus of this study, it can be seen that the analyze skill obtains highest distribution of 52 essay questions (19,33%) while the evaluate skill obtains 12 essay questions (4,47%) and the create skill only obtains 4 essay questions (1,49%). The results show that the distribution of the higher order thinking skill in the textbook only more pays attention to the analyze skill which has highest distribution among others.
