Abstract

This study aims to describe how it is implemented, the obstacles that are passed and the solutions to overcome obstacles in the application of Problem Based Learning in developing students' critical thinking skills in class V Civics learning at SD Negeri Beji. This research is a type of descriptive qualitative research with class V teachers and fifth grade students at SD Negeri Beji as the subject. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation then data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that: 1) The application of Problem Based Learning is carried out in several stages, namely the planning, processing and evaluation stages. 2) There are three obstacles that are passed, namely insufficient time allocation, students lack self-confidence and students are less active in learning activities. 3) The solution taken to overcome these obstacles is to make LKPD accompanied by complete steps, provide examples, accompany students during presentations and provide rewards/awards to students and provide ice breaking in the middle of learning activities.
